Sounds delicious! Although traditional French cuisine can't be beat, it's great to hear that some alternative dining options are opening up in Paris.

For chanson française, jazz, and exhibition space, try also -

On the Canal St Martin:
"Espace Jemmapes" in the Canal St. Martin area of the 10eme.

In Montmartre:

La Boule Noire- small divey concert hall often featuring heavier rock & pop acts
http://www.laboule-noire.fr/en/

La Cigale: www.lacigale.fr
A more classic, but still small (holds 1389 people), concert hall where you can see anyone from the likes of Ani Di franco, Jack Johnson, Lenny Kravitz, and Andrew Bird to Feist, Keren Ann, Amadou & Mariam, Air, Justice and more traditional French rock.
Decorated in 1987 by Starck this is a great place for world music, avant garde & just plain chanson française.

Elsewhere in Paris in the 20th right by the new HIP hotel 'Mama Shelter':
La Fleche d'Or, 102 BIS RUE DE BAGNOLET 75020 PARIS
http://www.flechedor.fr/
-sleek lounge & dance hall featuring unbeatable up-and-coming acts. often free entry (as long as you buy one drink during the night). heavily laptop-electro-pop oriented, and don't expect to see the headlining act take stage until at least 2am.

For small acts in the great Menilmontant neighborhood:

La Maroquinerie, 23 RUE BOYER, 75020 PARIS
www.lamaroquinerie.fr
