Rose Bakery – Lunch in the Marais

rose_carrot_cake1Carrot Cake at Rose Bakery:

After all the great things I have heard about Rose Bakery on rue des Martyrs, and the number of times I have tried to go there but never made it for some reason or another, I finally made it for lunch yesterday at their new (well not so new anymore) location on rue Debelleyme in the Marais. I was fairly certain, being somewhat of a pessimist at times, that after all the fab reviews I had heard, I might be disappointed. Wrong. Rose Bakery was all it’s touted to be, and more.

Surly service aside, the delicious dishes they served up were fresh, homemade and more than yummy. All of the cakes, tartes and salads on display looked mouth watering. I wanted to sample one of everything! They speak English and even do take out, a rarity in France.
Highly recommended.

I’ve just returned from Paris back to London and used HIP Paris as my main, go-to resource. I ate at the Rose Bakery and loved it. I was lucky enough to go for a late lunch during the week so no waiting in line. However, the pizzette and salad is great, as is the carrot cake and seasonal pudding we had. Brilliant lunch sport.

  • […] Rose Bakery. The lines can be long if you go at primetime (12-2pm on weekends), but this all-natural eatery serves up healthy dishes that you can eat at either of the bakery’s two locations or purchase to-go. The menu is more British than French—the scones and tea cakes are some of Paris’ best—but the emphasis is on fresh, seasonal ingredients, which are featured in salads, quiches, soups and mini tartelettes. 46 rue des Martyrs, 9eme (01 42 82 12 80) and 30 rue Debelleyme, 3eme (01 49 96 54 01). Had a very nice lunch at the bakery (rue Debelleyme)last Sunday, though we had to queue some half an our but it did worth it. Especially the carrot cake (took the last piece…….)

I Love your web site and have really been wanting to get back to Paris, but for the time being, living vicariously through your great stories. Thank You!!

I am a recording artist and this yearning for Paris has blossomed into a new cd called The Seduction Serenades inspired by French Cinema, Erik Satie and Edgar Degas. For those of you who can’t make it to Paris this year, I hope this cd will take you there.
