About HiP

Visiting Paris for the first time? Been here before and want to explore a new part of town? Live here and want tips for original things to do this weekend? Planning an upcoming trip, or simply a Francophile in need of a regular French fix? No matter who — or where — you are, HiP Paris is your online hub for everything that’s hot right now in the City of Light.

We’ll point you in the right direction and introduce you to off-the-beaten-path places, hip and happening people and events, and experiences you might otherwise overlook. From Paris to New York, San Francisco to Sydney, our readers are a diverse mix, united by their desire to be “in” on what’s happening in Paris. From food and fashion to architecture and culture—we’ve got you covered.

HiP Mission

Don’t get us wrong—we love the Eiffel Tower as much as anyone. But there’s so much more to Paris than its iconic monuments and well-known sites. To us, the best way to experience this city is to dig a little deeper, hunt a little harder and linger a little longer to uncover the secrets that make Paris so utterly irresistible. From film festivals and art exhibits to street style, hot new restaurants and interviews with foodies, artists and innovators, we are constantly taking the pulse of Parisian life… and sharing our discoveries with you!

Things We Love

  • Trying new restaurants from up-and-coming chefs and sampling their creative cuisine
  • Discovering new and enticing hole-in-the-wall shops, cafes, and bars
  • Meeting local artisans—from jewelers and painters to chocolatiers and furniture designers
  • Scouring Paris’ open-air markets and cooking up tasty new recipes
  • Soaking up Parisian culture—from music festivals to fashion shows
  • Shopping the flea markets and hitting up the newest concept stores
  • Exploring lesser known Parisian neighborhoods
  • Traveling to off-the-beaten-path parts of France & Italy

Paris is our city, and we’re thrilled to share the best of it with you. If there’s a topic you crave (or one that we’ve missed), we would love to hear from you! Please email us at [email protected].

So grateful I found this site, as I’m leaving for Paris in 10 days. I am going to spend my semester abroad there. As I’m definitely a foodie and shopaholic your tips, especially about spending on a budget (big thing for a designer-loving fashion girl on a student budget) helped me out a lot.

Thank you, and keep up the great work! 🙂

  • Hello, I am looking for a small aromatherapy shop from which I purchased an amazing cold remedy. They blend their own herbs. I am almost out of it and want to buy more! It is on a small side street off the Rue de St. Michel.
I am hoping you can help me. It calls itself an aromatherapy shop but has ingestible remedies.
    Merci Beaucoup,
    Bobbie Scheide

  • Hi! I am in the middle of a concert series at a very sweet, cool theater in the 1st. My music is mellow, acoustic pop, storytelling with surprises. Similar to Cat Power, early Liz Phair, or Ani DiFranco. I think your readers would be interested in the show.

Hi ladies, I have been browsing the site looking for some hidden gems for food and wine. I am an oenophile who loves an amazing value. I am open to trying wines I have never heard of, small production, etc. I am a big chateauneuf fan and was hoping you could point me in the direction of the best wine bars Paris has to offer. Would like to be able to eat and drink well at a reasonable cost.

I am also looking for copper pots and pans and was hoping you had some suggestions for purchasing these items at a great price.

Finally! I stumbled across your blog over a month ago. I loved it, and thought the information was invaluable. This is my first trip to France, so I am trying to soak up as much as I can prior to my trip. I unfortunately lost the link, and could not find it anywhere on the web. Well, today is different I guess and I have bookmarked for my daily reads now.

Merci mesdames, je me réjouis de vous parler bientôt.

Your blog/website is my “Bible” as I plan for my trip to Paris next month! Thank you so much for the information and inspiration!

  • Colette and I have a little (48.sq.meters) apartment in Paris on rue de Nazareth. We shop at the usual places plus rue de Bretagne, not to be overlooked. The new public library on rue de Portefoin is a find! Unhappily the US$ limits our activities, burt we will be there in April and May. The upmarket MonoPrix (Monop) is fun and we see them every where. We also wish that Mr. Picard would bring his frozen food chain to Chapel Hill, NC, where we live. The Rosiere stove in our apartment with 3 gas eyes, 1 electric one, and the dishwasher in the bottom drawer is a wonder. The famous restaurant, L’Ami Louis, is just around the corner from us on rue Vertbois but too expensive for us. There is also the Argentinean restaurant on the corner of rue Volta and rue Vertbois, plus 2 – 4 new restarants on rue Vertbois someone should try!
Come see us. Best wishes, Charles
