Paris is in full holiday swing, with café overhangs donning festive pine garlands and grand magasin windows showcasing this year’s glitzy displays. Here are some of our favorite events happenings around the city this month:
Funk bassist Thundercat has been particularly present on the radar this year, with spots on albums with Kendrik Lamar and Kamasi Washington and an EP of his own. He’s playing La Bellevilloise tonight and tickets are available here.

Whether you’re brimming with holiday cheer and eat up the cheesiness that the holidays can bring or looking for hip events that have absolutely nothing to do with Noel, we’ve got you covered, with everything from a graffiti installation in a new art space in an old car garage to ice skating in front of the Hotel de Ville.
La Manufacture 111 recently opened on rue des Pyrenees in the 20th and is playing host to 1984, the well-known Paris graffiti collective, for an ongoing residency. The three-story former car garage will officially open in April 2014, but this pre-opening is on view until December 22.
Trax Magazine, dedicated to all things electronic music, is opening Club Trax, a pop-up club for just three weekends this month. Most of the details of each event have been kept under wraps, but there are two more soirees left, on December 13 and December 20. Keep up with the details here and here.
Parisian photographer Christophe Jacrot is known for focusing on the beauty that can exist in a city when unpleasant weather strikes, often rain and snow. Though this interest began in Paris, it quickly moved to other metropolises like Hong Kong, New York, London. Continue Reading »

Christmas displays in Paris (abrunete)
December may be the best month to take in Notre Dame. They have their classic Christmas tree up in the square and a light/music show inside the nave each hour throughout December. Go on December 18th and stay for the Monteverdi Vespers concert. Beginning December 12, a special seating structure in the square will be open to the public, offering visitors a different perspective on the cathedral’s beautiful stained glass windows.
