As winter settles into Paris and the weather gets cold, it may be hard to find motivation to get out of your cozy Paris apartment. Luckily this month brings with it several weekly events to add to commit to your calendar and inspire you to get out of the house.

Wednesdays in December are full of fun options including weekly ceramic painting workshops at 12th arrondissement community space Ground Control. Stay out late on Wednesday nights for the nocturnes at the Palais de la Porte Dorée, when this museum/aquarium stays open until 9 pm. If you’ve got apéros on your mind, head to 18th arrondissement bar La P’tite Soeur every Wednesday evening for their seafood apéro featuring oysters, mussels, and more!

Those who want to combine sports and socializing should head to Montmartre mid-week. Wednesday night Team Trail sessions include an hour and a half of cardio while climbing the stairs of Montmartre and finish with a beer in a local bar. And if you want to get your hands dirty or are craving some nature time, check out the permaculture garden classes hosted by Les Grands Voisins.

Other cultural events this month include a performance of choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker’s Rain (December 6) and Espèces en Voie d’Illumination, a luminous stroll through the Jardin des Plantes featuring nature’s most magnificent creatures (until January 6),

Score some personalized Christmas gifts at David Lebovitz’s book signing event on December 2nd at La Cuisine Paris Cooking School. You can also get in the Christmas spirit at Paris Marchés de Noël, such as the Village de Noël La Défense and holiday festivals like the Jours de Fêtes à La Villette.
And finally, sometimes a simple stroll around the City of Light is enough: The Christmas season also brings with it the stunning window displays in department stores across the city, as well as dazzling Christmas lights that decorate the streets of the city.
