The dog days of summer 2009 may well be over in Paris, but our furry French friends are here to stay. The French love their doggies, and remain one of the countries with the highest per capita dog population in the world. A recent jaunt around the city unearthed doggies in the metro, doggies in cafes, dogs on the street, canines in shops and galleries and in just about every little corner of the city. One will rarely find any animal interdictions in French eateries, shops, cafes or public transport for French pets.

And this is one of the main reasons I love Paris so much! We took our little pug with us the last time we visited, and let me just say, we were never treated better – she was like having royalty in our arms!
