Cupcake Camp (freakgirl & Cupcake Camp)
Leave it to Le Fooding to get 13 of the best names in the food and wine industry cooking together in one room. Mark your calendars, November 15 – 17 are my favorite two days this month. With Le Clan des Madones, Le Fooding is bringing together a group of incredible female chefs in a parking-garage-turned-pop-up-restaurant and giving them carte blanche to cook two services for seatings of 50 each evening.

To die for! Just a few of the participants include Camille Fourmon of La Buvette de Camille, Laura Vidal of Frenchie, Adeline Grattard of Yam’Tcha… You get the idea. The first round of tickets sold out quickly (no surprise there), but another ticket release is set for November 12. Oh and did we mention part of the proceeds go to the charity Les Enfants du Congo-Béthanie?

Coutume Café, one of our favorite spots for a delicious coffee in Paris, has just launched Coutume Lab. They’ll be doing coffee research and offering tastings, and we’ll be sure to share any events they host. In the meantime, head over to their Facebook page for a preview.
Paris Photo at Grand Palais (Robert Polidori)
If October was modern art fair month in Paris, November is dedicated to photography exhibitions. In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Festival International du Photojournalisme, which happened this past September, the Maison des Metallos is exhibiting part of the private, personal collection of Jean-Francois Leroy, creator and director of the festival. The pieces are only on view until the 7th, so act quickly! There are also “surprise” guests each evening at 19h (though you can find out who here).

The month continues its photo theme with the opening of the exhibition Brassai: Pour l’Amour de Paris at the Hotel de Ville, which is on view until March. One of the best-known photographers of the early 20th century, Brassai’s work clearly captures Paris’s romantic, mysterious spirit that so many adore. He fell deeply in love with the city on a family trip as a young child (doesn’t everyone on their first visit to Paris?), and dedicated a great part of his adult work to immortalizing the city he was so infatuated with, Paris in the 1920s and 30s: its people, its architecture, and its neighborhoods.
Brassai: Pour l’Amour de Paris
The 17th edition of Paris Photo commences next week and runs for just a few short days, November 14 – 17. The exhibition is set to bring together 136 galleries and 28 publishers, all under the glass roof of the Grand Palais. The fair is packed with exhibitions, talks, presentations, book signings… You name it: from a talk about how globalization is affecting the field and art of photography to an exhibition of five emerging youth photographers who were chosen to show at Paris Photo this year, alongside the best in their industry.

After stints in Reims and Lille, the Salon des vins des Vignerons Independants will make its way to Paris from November 28 – December 2. “Salon” often evokes a crowded, impersonal gathering for me, but this event will be a bit different. The winemakers themselves will be present, sharing their stories as well as their wines. We’re all about supporting independent small producers, and this is the perfect place to do it.
Cupcake Camp & Amoureusement Soupe (freakgirl & Amoureusement Soupe)
Up in Montmartre a love for perfect autumnal soup is brewing, and on November 9 there will even be a festival dedicated to this chilly-weather staple. Amoureusement Soupe is the 1st annual soup festival in Paris, and I think maybe the perfect chilly Saturday afternoon activity.
Care to switch up the usual concert circuit? Running until November 30, Monte le Son music festival celebrates modern African music with 15 live concerts, conferences, and film screenings…all taking place in libraries across Paris. Spectacle musiques afraicaines
November 24: Cupcakes have long been an American favorite, but they’ve also taken Paris by storm in recent years. Cupcake Camp, now in its fourth year, combines a love for this treat with a desire to do some good. You can RSVP to attend the event on their Facebook page, or enter to bake in one of four competitions taking place this year, and all proceeds from the event will go to Make-a-Wish France. This may be one of the few times you can eat multiple cupcakes in one sitting and actually feel good about it.
