Petit Palais, Maxence Cyrin
The ideal autumnal chill has hit Paris and fall is officially in full swing. This month brings the annual Salon du Chocolat for sweet tooths and FIAC for the contemporary art aficionados, as well as a handful of other notable happenings:
Nicolas PERRIN
The Petit Palais has gone Irish with its new major exposition dedicated to the work of famed Oscar Wilde. Despite the fact that the writer died in Paris, this is the first large-scale French exposition of his work. L’impertinant absolu will be on view until January 2017.
What do you get when you mix a French rocker with a British satirical photographer? MMM: Matthieu Chedid Rencontre Martin Parr at the Philharmonie de Paris, co-produced by Magnum Photos. Opened today, this quirky retrospective features over 500 photos of the intersections between the artists’ worlds.
Fiesta Dia de los Muertos, Paris Artistes
This weekend, the Parisian public can enjoy open (and free!) access to a plethora of creative work produced around the capital. PARISARTISTES#, in its third year, showcases more than one hundred artists – including painters, photographers, sculptors, visual artists, designers, writers, and more – who will exhibit their works in dedicated locations around the city. For more information on locations and selected artists, head here. 120 concerts, 12 locations, three days.
From October 12 – 14, MaMA Festival returns to Paris with an impressive line-up of French and international artists. I’m personally most excited for the intoxicating airs of contemporary pianist Maxence Cyrin, performing at Le Carmen on the 12th.
Salon du Chocolat
Design lovers, block your calendars for October 23rd. Culture and design webzine Achille is hosting its third Brocante Design, with 60 galleries and dealers from France and Europe showcasing their wares at the Faculté des Sciences de Jussieu.
Our friends and HiP Paris contributors Forest Collins (52 Martinis) and Lily Heise (Je T’aime Me Neither) have paired up to launch a monthly cocktail mixer that is not to be missed. The launch of the event series is happening October 27th at Secret de Paris Hotel. For more details on how to reserve tickets, head here.
Celebrate Halloween in the Mexican tradition with the Fiesta Dia de Los Muertos at L’Alimentation Generale. Honor the dead, enjoy some live Latin music, and be sure to come dressed up. The best costume wins a surprise prize.
