There is nothing in Paris I enjoy more — except maybe a delicious meal — than an aimless wander and a great cup of coffee. On a recent stroll through the Canal St. Martin, I stumbled upon the new coffee and concept shop Residence Kann.

The cute, modern space, tucked off the canal on rue des Vinaigriers, boasts comfortable furniture, highly curated tableware, and a cozy backroom perfect for meetings or a quiet moment.

Houssan Kanaan, one of the three founders of Residence Kann, enthusiastically explained that they only serve the best food and coffee: Coutume coffee beans, and pastries and vegetarian lunches crafted by the chef of Hébé restaurant.

Furniture Handmade With Love

Houssan’s family has been in the furniture business for over 60 years. Every piece in the coffee shop has been purposefully designed for this particular space. The pieces were created by Kann Design, Houssan’s company, and handcrafted in Houssan’s childhood village in Lebanon. Their new showroom, previously located in the Residence Kann space for the past seven years, is now located just down the street and re-opened in conjunction with the coffee shop. The entire interior décor of Residence Kann will change every six months, with the existing items up for sale at reduced rates at the time of the changeover, or can be ordered directly from the shop.
