Stay Home: Food Delivery in Paris During the Lockdown

With Paris still under Covid-19 lockdown, many of our favorite restaurants, cafes, and food stores have unfortunately had to close their doors. Supermarkets remain open, but if you’re sick, immunodeficient, or elderly, you may prefer to order your food online. Or maybe you just want to support local small businesses during this trying time! Below are some of the food delivery services helping keep Parisians fed. And if you order, don’t forget to tip your delivery person!

La Maison Plisson

This popular cafe and restaurant is also an épicerie and alimentation générale that stocks high-quality products from nearly 650 small French producers. La Maison Plisson is continuing to support these producers by offering their products for sale online. You can order meat, fruit and vegetables, cheese and other dairy products, seafood, bread, packaged goods, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Flying Circus

Flying Circus is the new sustainable delivery service by the trendy Circus Bakery. You can order their 100% sourdough bread, banana bread, apple pie, and famous cinnamon buns. They deliver if you’re lucky enough to live in the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18ème arrondissements. They make the deliveries themselves via bicycle to maintain their own quality standards. Any orders placed before 4 pm will be delivered the same day.

Poilâne

You can also order high-quality, natural sourdough bread from celebrated Parisian bakery Poilâne. In addition, you can get sablés, cookies, chocolate, granola, jam, flour, salt, bread knives, bread baskets and bags, biscuit boxes, and recipe books by Apollonia and Lionel Poilâne.

Belleville Brûlerie

Now that all the cafes are closed, it looks like we’re going to have to up our at-home coffee game. One of our favorites, Belleville Brûlerie, is offering Le Kit Quarantine Café, which includes a kilo of their own coffee with a 500ml Bodum cafetière à piston (or French press as us Anglophones would say). What’s more, for each pack of coffee bought, they will donate one to Paris hospitals. Delivery is via bike and free with no minimum spend.

Le Parti du Thé

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you tea drinkers! You can get your hands on teas from China, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Africa, and more from Le Parti du Thé. They also sell accessories such as teapots and cups, tea boxes, infusers, and filters. Delivery is free for orders over 40€.

Terroirs d’Avenir

Terroirs d’Avenir connects French producers with both chefs and consumers. They distribute daily fresh produce from a hundred producers in France, Spain, Greece and Italy to Parisian restaurants. They offer excellent produce that respects the environment and the work of farmers. You can order meat, charcuterie, fruit and vegetables, cheese and dairy products, and packaged goods. Deliveries are made via 100% electric or natural gas vehicles and all drivers are employees of the company.

Le Comptoir des Producteurs

Le Comptoir des Producteurs offers high-quality, fresh fruit and vegetables that come directly from French producers. Like Terroirs d’Avenir, they often supply Parisian restaurants. There’s also an épicerie section where you can find jam and honey, canned goods and sauces, oils, condiments, spices, dried fruit, pasta, rice and lentils, and drinks. Delivery is free for orders over 50€. 

Eataly

This popular Italian food hall in the Marais has a mercato full of Italian products. You can order baskets online such as the Family Kit, Fruits et Légumes, Charcuteries et Fromages, the Eataly Spaghetti Box, Kit La Pasta, Kit La Pizza, Le Brunch, and wine baskets. You can also order individual products such as cheese, charcuterie, olive oil, panettone, and Moscato. Delivery within Paris starts at 8.50€ and there is a 50€ minimum spend.

Epicery

Epicery is all about supporting small producers. The site allows you to order fresh, seasonal produce from your neighborhood grocers, butchers, fishmongers, fromageries, boulangeries, and pâtisseries. For example, you can get bread from Poilâne, chocolate from À la Mère de Famille, macarons from Ladurée, and cheese from Monbleu or Taka & Vermo Artisans Fromagers. Ninety percent of orders are done on bike or foot, and their bags are made out of recycled and recyclable paper. 

Frichti

Frichti delivers you homemade meals prepared daily using seasonal ingredients. You can also order fresh groceries and recipe kits. All of their products have zero additives, preservatives, or palm oil. They’re also working to remove all nitrates from their cold cuts, and they try to stock products labeled with AOP, AOC, organic, or Label Rouge. Frichti uses eco-friendly packaging, re-usable cutlery, and eco-friendly delivery, either via bike or electric scooter. You can also donate money to healthcare workers or the organization Les Restos du Cœur de Paris. Delivery prices vary and begin at just 1€.

Glovo

Glovo is similar to UberEats and Deliveroo in that you can order food from restaurants. But what makes it different is that you can also order groceries from food shops and grocery stores, as well as gifts such as flowers, jewelry, chocolate, cosmetics, decoration and lifestyle products, homeware, toys, and tech. Hint: This would be a great option if you know someone who has a birthday during lockdown.
