There’s been a refreshing energy in Paris over the past several years. It feels as if the historically rich city is finally comfortable in its modern skin.
The proof can be found at Atelier des Lumières, the latest addition to the Paris museum scene by Culturespaces (creators of Musées Jacquemart-André and Maillol). This “digital gallery” blends art, technology, and history in a way that underscores the dynamism of current-day Paris.
The space is located in a 19th-century foundry near Voltaire in the 11th arrondissement. The interior is an otherwise unassuming warehouse space, at least until the exposition beings. By combining animated 360 degree projections and ambient music, the viewing experience is transformed and becomes immersive, sensory, and emotional.
