Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to stay in Paris, a romantic holiday, or to be in the thick of it all. This selection of vacation homes offers something for everyone to ensure you’ll have the best time on your visit to the City of Light.
Is it better to stay in a Paris apartment rental or hotel?
Many people have a hard time choosing between an apartment or hotel. There are many factors to consider, including personal preferences. For us, the length of your stay is a big deciding factor. If you are in Paris for more than just a short stay, an apartment may be the best option. It can be helpful to have a washing machine to clean clothes and to save money on food by cooking meals at home. Best of all, staying in a vacation apartment is a great way to fully experience the charm of Paris like a local. Shopping at the markets or on foodie streets like rue Cler is a delight. It’s also one of the best ways to save money on food. Rental apartments can also offer more space for groups or families traveling together.
What to look for in a rental?
Make sure to check the cancellation policy and read the fine print carefully. It’s a good idea to take out travel insurance in the case of cancellations.
Parisian apartments tend to be small so pay attention to how many square meters a property is if it is listed. Most Parisian apartments do not have air conditioning. If this is important to you make sure to check for availability. For the most part it is not necessary unless your stay coincides with a heatwave. Also important in the summer months is knowing what floor an apartment is located on. If you are on the top floor of a typical Parisian building you will likely have great views but it can get uncomfortably hot in the summer without A/C.
Verify that your rental has an elevator if you have mobility issues, strollers, or heavy luggage. If you’re traveling with young children, ensure that the apartment is child friendly. Finally be aware that certain amenities that are common in places like North America such as ice makers, a microwave and clothes dryers are not always the norm in French homes.
