The Hood wears many hats, and it carries each one impeccably. By day, the comfortable, airy space serves as a coffeehouse and creative meeting place. By night, a veritable gastronomic address.
Singapore-native Pearlyn Lee opened The Hood in May 2016. Today, a smiley team of baristas leads the front of house, while Masterchef France winner Khánh-Ly Huỳnh crafts Asian-inspired plates from the open kitchen in back.
The morning menu includes coffee classics – beans are sourced from Paris’ Brûlerie Belleville and The Barn Berlin – teas, Golden Milk (turmeric, coconut milk, black pepper, ginger, whole milk), and pastries. At lunchtime, healthy bowls, Banh Mi sandwiches, and pandan chiffon cake are up for grabs. And after nightfall, the space transforms into a neobistrot offering a curated selection of natural wines, craft beers, and sharable small plates (think bavette with Asian chimichurri and Jerusalem artichoke and rhubarb with bergamot, pandan chiffon, and meringue.

Now, you might be thinking, “but Paris is teeming with cozy cafés and innovative restaurants that draw the creative set…” While that’s true, The Hood feels different. It doesn’t just welcome the creative community, it supports their work via a dedicated exhibition space. And Sunday brunch is more than a tasty meal because its paired with live music from local bands.
The space’s slogan is “The Hood is Yours.” Pay them a visit and you’ll see: it really does feel a little like home.
