Like most tourist sites in Paris (and around the world), the restaurants near the Eiffel Tower are some of the worst quality and value in the whole city. Nevertheless, if you venture a few blocks away, you can find some fabulous dining options. From neighborhood bistros to cutting-edge contemporary cuisine, here are some of the best restaurants near the Eiffel Tower.
The more casual venue of Michelin-starred chef Christian Constant (of the nearby Le Violon d’Ingres and formerly of L’Ecrin at the Hôtel de Crillon), here you can enjoy classic French fare within a typical Parisian bistro setting that is packed with locals and tourists alike. The deftly prepared menu includes the likes of boeuf bourguignon, duck parmentier, and farm-raised roast chicken, all for about 22-24 €.
Carnivores will be in seventh heaven at this temple to French charcuterie. Awarded the prestigious title of meilleur ouvrier de France, chef Arnaud Nicolas has perfected the art of pâté en croûte, terrine, and foie gras, which are available in refined dishes in his stylish restaurant or to-go in the haute-couture delicatessen conveniently located around the corner from the Eiffel Tower.
A victim of its own success (and possibly too much coverage in guidebooks), rue Cler has lost some of its authenticity. However, there are still some genuine gems on this charming market street, one of them being this casual café. Within the same restaurant family as more upmarket La Fontaine de Mars, this neighborhood joint serves reasonably priced brasserie favorites, including Poilâne bread tartines, salads, omelettes, and daily specials, perfect for lunch or a relaxed dinner.
Around the corner from the famous rue Cler is the alluring bistro of Basque chef Thierry Dufroux. Using predominantly ingredients and influences from his native southwestern region, at lunch you can choose from daily chalkboard specials or a plate of two creative pintxos tapas, whereas the dinner menu lists seasonal dishes and a tasting menu chosen by the chef.
This neighborhood institution has been serving great French classics for over 60 years. You can expect go-tos like escargots, foie gras with apricot chutney, veal sweetbreads, and their famous soufflés with either Comté cheese or crab. During the week they also offer a more wallet-friendly two-course lunch special at 24.50 €..
Inventive chef Tomy Gousset’s hard work and creativity have paid off, earning him a coveted Michelin star in January 2019. The regularly changing menu showcases original takes on French classics and includes vegetables from his own garden. You can sample these in his excellent-value lunch menu at 28 €, or more elaborate evening options.
Some of the best restaurants within the vicinity of la Tour Eiffel are actually found across the river, including this chic café of the Musée de l’Homme in the Palais de Chaillot building. More of a bistro than a café, the venue’s terrace has one of the best views of the tower (be sure to book a table on the terrace in advance though).
The view comes at a price, although the menu does include top-quality seasonal ingredients in sophisticated dishes such as macaroni with autumn truffle, parmesan cheese cream, burrata drizzled in basil-lemon ponzu sauce or Bömlo salmon with shallots, tarragon, and hazelnut butter.
Also found in the Palais de Chaillot, this relative newcomer to the Parisian dining scene boasts a glamorous Art Deco design and a highly coveted terrace with more exceptional views of the Grand Dame. Focused on exceptional seafood, the menu also has a selection of salads and meat dishes.
