Paris lives for its cafés and their legendary terraces. We also adore being outside in summer, especially since the season is so short. But when the sun is too strong, it’s best to seek out some pleasant shade – something not all café terraces have. Savor the summertime in Paris, while keeping cool at the best shaded terraces in the city.
La Démesure sur Seine Est

Nestled under the trees along the Seine at the Port de la Rapée, this large seasonal venue is blessed with plenty of natural shade. Sip away on refreshing cocktails and choose from a wide selection of nibbles at the food court, while taking in a cabaret show, stand up or concert.
Le Papa Cabane

The summertime vibes flow freely at this huge pop-up bar behind the Accor Arena at Bercy. With sitting areas topped in bamboo and draped in sheer curtains, you’d almost think you were in Ibiza or Mykonos – with a Parisian edge. The island ambiance is enhanced by crisp cocktails, salads, apéro planches and live DJs.

Pavillon Puebla

Encircled by the century’s old trees of the Buttes-Chaumont park, this trendy bar offers a hip and shady haven. Managed by the team at Le Perchoir, expect a similar atmosphere to their rooftop bars, here with two terraces decked out in wooden structures, Moroccan armchairs, swings and intimate seating nooks. The tempo picks up after sundown, with DJs and dancing till dawn.

Martin

All times of day are perfect to enjoy this verdant courtyard oasis, a stone’s throw from the Canal Saint-Martin and République. Its inviting outdoor tables and sofas are perfect for morning coffee or brunch, an inventive lunch or an apéro of cocktails, cheese, charcuterie boards and DJ beats.
Andia

Formerly La Gare, Latin American flavors now travel through this former train station of the Petite Ceinture railway. Shade-seekers will love their covered patio, which brings a little of the Amazon jungle to Paris. If it isn’t too hot, you can also sample fresh drinks, stylish salads and cooling ceviche in their enchanting garden.
l’Hôtel Particulier de Montmartre
One of the loveliest hidden gardens in Paris is just minutes from the crowds amassed at the Sacré-Coeur. The garden café of this chic boutique hotel is the ideal spot for a break while strolling around Montmartre, whether during the afternoon or at apéro hour.
