The new year has just begun and you might be thinking it’s time to relax and settle into winter. But don’t put up your feet just yet because 2020 brings a slew of new events to enjoy this January!

Food
Put all thoughts of that post-festivities diet aside. Fight off the winter chills with the warming, hearty dish that is raclette at Terrass” Hotel beginning January 9 and continuing every Thursday evening until the end of February. Cozy up on their ski-resort inspired winter chalet rooftop (don’t worry, its covered) and enjoy a glass of cidre chaud. If you didn’t make it to their New Year’s Day brunch, don’t miss out again. Reservations are a must!

If fondue is more your thing, head to Brasserie Auteuil for La Folie d’Auteuil, their “après-ski” rooftop (also covered) where they host fondue parties every Thursday evening until February 8. What’s more, you can work off all that cheese on their very own mini ice skating rink! To accompany your fondue, try one of their four special winter cocktails.

Music
From January 21-26, celebrate the 10th birthday of La Machine du Moulin Rouge, a unique venue located at the historic site of the Moulin Rouge spanning four floors and 2500m2. Six days of concerts from a mix of musical genres will take place at the venue’s two night clubs, with food and drinks being served at Le Bar à Bulles, a terrace bar hidden behind the windmill of the Moulin Rouge, and Le Toit, a rooftop bar with a view of Montmartre.

Art
Centre Pompidou is celebrating filmmaker Richard Linklater with a retrospective of his work until January 6. Check out a major exhibition and screenings of his films such as Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight, and Boyhood. You can also catch the exhibition of renowned British figurative painter Francis Bacon before it finishes on January 20. (Don’t forget to book your tickets online!)

Another exhibition closing soon is that of American conceptual artist Dan Graham, which finishes on January 11 at Marian Goodman Gallery. But when one exhibition closes, another one opens. An exhibition by American artist Daniel Arsham kicks off on January 11th at Galerie Perrotin. And the exhibition Still Life by American photographer Irving Penn finishes on January 18 at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac.

On January 24, La Gaîté Lyrique begins Faire Corps by Adrien M and Claire B, an immersive exhibition experience that invites you to move, dance, interact, and explore the influence of our gestures and moving bodies upon the world.

Open Days
Get a sneak peak behind the doors of the École du Louvre on January 18. Discover the school, its programs, and the work of its students, as well as attend conferences and art history film screenings. You can also go behind the scenes of École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs from January 31 – February 1. If you’ve ever dreamed of studying in Paris, or you just like a sneak peek, this is your opportunity!
