Terraces abound in Paris right now. And the growing number of waterside bars are especially appealing, with their spacious, airy, festive, and beach-like vibes. This new wave of waterside bars near Paris are worth the journey out of the city center to experience.

Rosa Bonheur à l’Ouest

Part of the Rosa Bonheur family, this barge moored on the river in Asnières-sur-Seine is popular with the afterwork crowd of La Défense. It features the same chill vibe as the other Rosas, complete with reasonably priced drinks, wood-fire pizzas, good music, and a bucolic riverside atmosphere. If you’re more drawn to eastern Paris, read about the new Rosa Bonheur à l’Est in this article.

L’Eden Lounge

L’Eden

This barge docked off the verdant Parc de l’Île-Saint-Germain in Boulogne-Billancourt is a hop, skip, and a jump from southwestern Paris. In summer, the boat’s terrace spills overboard with a large grassy patch with tables and umbrellas. The ambiance picks up on Wednesdays with an open mic night, and on Friday to Sunday evenings with DJ sets.

Polpo Plage

You’ll almost feel like you’re in the South of France at this beach terrace in Levallois-Perret. Its sandy beach is decked out with reclining chairs, sunbeds, palm umbrellas, and picnic tables. The seaside theme is also reflected in its menu of seafood snacks. During happy hour when you can get six oysters with two glasses of white wine for only 19€.

Le Chalet du Lac

Although technically “in” Paris, you’ll feel a world away at this new beach club in the Bois de Vincennes. Its huge sandy beach next to the Lac de Saint-Mandé has sun loungers, water misters, an ice cream stand, barbecue, and cocktail bar. Reserve weekend brunch and get a sunbed for free, or bring your dancing shoes for its swing dances held Monday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons. DJs nights are on Friday and Saturday.

Guinguette des Maquereaux

On the banks of the Marne River, east of Paris, is the little sister of the Les Maquereaux barge found in Paris near Hôtel de Ville. This part of the Marne has a tradition of guinguettes, which this venue beautifully maintains. Like its Parisian outpost, here too seafood is at the forefront, available as snacks or full meals. Weekends often feature live bands. Consider taking your apéro to the water by renting out one of their small boats (no license required!).
