Paris Déco Off
With the holiday season coming to a close and wintery weather setting in, January can easily feel a bit drab. But fear not! There is plenty to do in Paris this month, and here are our favorites:

Les Soldes: Ah, the twice-annual shopping extravaganza hits Paris again this year, starting this Wednesday. Still longing for that plush wool coat you didn’t get as a gift this Christmas? This is the perfect time to indulge.

Perhaps one of the most recognizable names in French cinema, Truffaut classics are plentiful. For the 30th anniversary of his passing, the Cinémathèque Française has been honoring his work in an ongoing exhibition that is set to end February 1st.

Last year’s original Fête du Graphisme was such a success that it is returning for a second year. From January 7 – March 4 various expositions, film screenings, workshops, and parties will be scattered around Paris, all dedicated to the graphic arts.

From graphic arts we shift to dance with Faits d’Hiver, a winter festival running from January 14 – February 14, with eleven different performances spanning the month (and the spectrum of dance styles).

From January 22 – 26 Paris Déco Off, now in its 6th year, is back for one of the best-known international design events in Paris. This year’s rendez-vous will draw more than 99 brands, including Christian Lacroix, Hermès, and Missoni Home.

SmART-PHOod, an organization that seeks to delve into the artistic and social aspects of Vietnamese gastronomy, is hosting La gastronomie vietnamienne dans tous ses états beginning the 10th at the Foyer Vietnam. The event includes photo exhibitions and installations, as well as food tastings each Sunday this month.
Pastel et nu, the newest show from Belgian contemporary visual artist Nicholas Party, opens January 16th at the Centre Culturel Suisse. The exposition focuses on a reinterpretation of classical forms and themes, all shown in a wonderfully fresh light.
Festival Faits d’hiver; La Fête du graphisme
On Sunday the 18th, be sure to head to Hangar 56 in the 11ème for a day-long hip-hop event. L’asso AgoraFrog is launching its open mic/concert series showcasing the best of the modern French hip-hop scene.
