Cloud Cakes
Just a few years ago, it was nothing short of a miracle to stumble upon an assiette végétarienne in an otherwise meat-and-béchamel sauce-heavy Parisian restaurant.
But, oh how the tides have turned.
Nowadays, there’s a veritable veggie revolution going on in the City of Light. Vegan and healthy hotspots are poppin’ up like daisies, and more and more, we veggie-hunters are spoiled for choice.
Dieu merci and hallelujah.
Cloud Cakes
Our top ten list includes some of the absolute must-try cake shops (because that’s what we live for), as well as our fave veggie lunch and dinner spots. Truth be told, whittling this list down to just ten, was itself a feat, since there’s so much incredible healthy food on offer these days. (Check out Happy Cow Paris for a complete list of vegetarian restaurants).
One thing to note: while the hip and hipster-filled rive droite has got it going on in terms of veggie-friendly spots (been to VeggieTown yet?), the rive gauche has definitely got a lot of catching up to do.
Come on, Left Bank! Those hungry students are ripe and ready for veggie burgers! And we wouldn’t mind one while on your side of the river, either!
So without further ado, let’s veg’ out.
Veggie Magnifique’s Top Ten Spots for Vegan Dining in Paris
VG Pâtisserie
Gerard Depardieu once said that the secret to life is: “but-tair.” We tend to disagree… or at least, we’ve been convinced otherwise, by Bérénice Leconte and her new vegan and organic bakery, VG Pâtisserie. Prepare to be 100% shocked by what she and her pastry wizard team have created — it doesn’t just taste like the “real thing,” it’s even better.
VG Pâtisserie – 123, Boulevard Voltaire, 75011
Le Potager de Charlotte – David, Adrien & Christophe Valentin
You know when the feeling when you’ve just eaten a soi-disant “healthy meal” and thirty minutes later you’re hungry? Like… how did that happen? Well, not at Potager de Charlotte. David and Adrien, the genius team of brothers behind the 100% vegan resto, have created a haven of bodacious and clever combinations of plants, nuts, seeds and incredible sauces. Oh, and their avocado “façon oeufs-mayonnaise”? It’s worthy of the Instagram foodie hall of fame, and is creamy and delicious to boot. We promise you’ll go away feeling properly stuffed.
Le Potager de Charlotte – 12, rue de la Tour d’Auvergne, 75009
Cloud Cakes
This heaven-filled gem of a café, inspired by Americana baked goods, is one of our fave Parisian hang outs. It’s not just they make the best vegan chocolate croissants we’ve ever tasted, but Olivier and Aélita have also created the coziest, most lovely café ambiance in town. Curl up on the couch with a beetroot latté and read the day away. Snack on a tiramisu cupcake while catching up with a copine. Plus, it’s right around the corner from our fave yoga studio, Caelo Yoga. Because the perfect snack after an hour and half of down-dogs and chaturangas is certainly a gâteau forêt noire.
Cloud Cakes – 6, rue Mandar, 75002

5 Lorette
Did I hear someone say detox? Look no further than 5 Lorette. This high-vitality hot spot is our fave place to reboot and refresh. The friendly owner Rina has created a sumptuous and inviting restaurant, and chef Faical finishes the job with aplomb, offering gorgeous color-packed plates of yum. Need some crudités, avo-creams, and chickpea crunchies in your life? Or maybe quinoa burgers, buddha bowls, and raw chips? 5 Lorette is certainly the proud recipient of Veggie Magnifique’s Stamp of Approval for “healthiest resto in Paris.” Of course their raw chocolate cake will also knock your socks off. You can find us here for our monthly vegan cooking workshops!
5 Lorette – 5, rue Notre Dame de Lorette, 75009
5 Lorette
The place to take all your veggie-curious and flexitarian friends, Niébé offers a two-sided menu for both meat-eaters and vegans. Brazilian chef Rosilene creates decadent and delicious Afro-Brazilian dishes bursting with flavor and creativity, expertly covering all the culinary bases of spicy, sweet, savory, and sensational. Not only that, but the decor and ambiance is as creamy and “feel good” as the peanut butter mafe they serve.
Niébé – 16 Rue de la Grande Chaumière, 75006
Brasserie 2ème Art/Niébé
Brasserie 2ème Art
Vegan comfort food central. While certainly not haute cuisine, Brasserie 2ème Art is the place you go for waffles, ice cream, samosas, and pizza. They’re open all day, late in the wee hours, and the ambiance is très brasserie. Plus, 2ème Art is the perfect place for all your meat-head, kebab-craving copains who say they could never “go veggie.” (Just wait until they’ve tried the kebab!)
Brasserie 2ème Art – 49 Rue Montmartre, 75002
Le Grenier de Notre Dame
Le Grenier is the trailblazer of the bunch. Neatly nestled in the shadow of Notre Dame (hooray left bank!), this restaurant opened its doors in 1978, and has been delighting palates with its veggie-macrobiotic fare ever since. Come for a comforting bowl of spaghetti “bolognese” or a plate of seitan and all the fixin’s.
Le Grenier de Notre Dame – 18, rue de la Bûcherie, 75005
Abattoir Végétal
A real turn up for the books in the 18th arrondissement, this café-restaurant serves incredibly tasty fusion French-middle eastern cuisine, and also has a great list of healthful drinks for a relaxing afternoon break. They pride themselves on sourcing everything locally, so this new-kid-on-the-block is doubly eco-friendly. Of course also worth of note, is the plant-filled gold and pink decor that makes us want to set up Veggie Magnifique headquarters at table 6.
Abattoir Végétal – 61, rue Ramey, 75018
Abattoir Végétal
H.O.P.E.
The haut-marais… a neighborhood where healthy food and a yogic vibe seems to ooze out of every street corner. And the newest addition to this vague of green and veggie-glam is H.O.P.E. This lovely and totally “hygge” eatery is a higher-end spot with tasty haute cuisine dishes, created by a talented and dedicated vegan couple, Emilie and Victor. Don’t miss out on their moelleux au chocolat.
Home of the Plant Eaters (H.O.P.E.) – 19, rue de Picardie, 75003
Le Potager de Charlotte – David, Adrien & Christophe Valentin
PH7 Équilibre
PH7 is all about complete and macrobiotic nutrition. But don’t go thinking you’re going to be noshing on grass, rice and sprouts the whole time. The mother and daughter team behind this wholesome spot has paid particular attention that everything they serve is colourful, complex, and super well seasoned. Macrobiotics 2.0! This balanced, complete, veggie-filled cuisine will leave you with the beatific smile of a well-fed buddha. Ommmm.
PH7 Équilibre – 21, rue le Peletier, 75009

Yum! This is a list to remember for my next visit! Last time when I was in Paris I had bit of trouble finding veggie food. Luckily there are always crepes and galettes to the rescue 🙂
