The continued growth of vegetarian restaurants and speciality shops in Paris is proving to be much more than a passing trend as an increasing amount of Parisians are swapping out their steak-frites for a bol végé. The green movement in Paris has recently gone one step further with the city’s first Vegan Concept Store, Aujourd’hui Demain.

Located in the 11th arrondissement, the shop was opened last year by two enthusiastic young entrepreneurs, Raphaël Francisco and Cheyma Bourguiba, with the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign. A veritable animal-lovers’ haven, everything sold or prepared in the shop is 100% vegan, which means it contains no animal products (including honey and leather goods) nor products tested on animals. In every way the shop strives to be ethical, sustainable and environmentally-friendly. The bright airy space features an urban-chic decor with cascading plants and album covers posted on the walls.

The food section contains a range of dried and fresh vegan culinary delights, including vegan cheese by French producers Les Nouveaux Affineurs. You can get inspiration for what to prepare with these yummy goods from one of their cookery and healthy lifestyle books which are on sale in the book department. To complete the merchandise component of the shop are some natural cosmetics, stylish clothing by up-and-coming designers and faux-leather footwear.

After you’ve perused the aisles, settle in at their delicious organic café. In the morning and afternoon you can can get a fresh-pressed juice or lactose-free latté with your choice of soy, rice or almond milk–best enjoyed with a rich brownie or “cheesecake.” Over lunch they serve a variety of toasted club sandwiches, soups and veggie bowls abundant in seasonal ingredients and on weekends the menu broadens to include regularly changing thematic brunches.

To help promote veganism, they also organize cool workshops and events like a used clothing sale every third weekend of the month and vegan pop-up festivals. Before leaving, be sure to commemorate your eco-friendly visit to the shop in its free photobooth.
