Three Insider Coffee Addresses for Your Paris Caffeine Fix

Broken Biscuits

Paris is wonderful at any time of the year, but it’s during the summer months that the city really seems to stretch out of its lazy winter haze and launch into the season of terrasses, 10pm sunsets, rooftop apéros, and openings. Over the past few weeks, three new cafés have sprung up in Paris, adding to the city’s ever-growing list of places to get delicious craft coffee.

Broken Biscuits

Broken Biscuits

This little café, tucked away on a quiet street in the 11th arrondissement, is all clean lines and nondescript décor, while managing to be cozy and welcoming at the same time. Owners Chris and Christine, of English and Irish origin, made their way to Paris from Dublin to open this café-bakery, which supplies cakes and pastries to many of the area’s other coffee spots, like Honor and Fondation. Nabbing their beans from Belleville Brûlerie, it’s the perfect spot to spend a moment really enjoying the craftsmanship behind each sip and bite. Order a simple iced coffee, served in one of their adorable Broken Biscuits mugs, to beat the Parisian summer heat, and indulge in whichever baked good strikes your fancy; few places do a better lemon poppyseed cake.

Maison Kitsuné Café

The newest addition to the Maison Kitsuné family has also made the 11th arrondissement its new home in an open and airy space on the bustling Boulevard des Filles du Calvaire. If you enter on the top floor from the boulevard, you’ll walk into the boutique, featuring clothing that pairs perfectly with the fun, playful vibe of the shop itself. Head downstairs to find the café, which has nearly the same menu as the original Palais Royal location, and try the matcha latte if you haven’t already.

Ob-La-Di

As soon as the 50s tunes hit your ears upon walking into this quirky café, you know you’re about to have a wholly pleasant experience. The blue-and-white patterned floor and hanging leather jacket emblazoned with the café’s name across the back only add to the cool vibes of the Marais’s newest spot. Located next to popular Mexican restaurant Candelaria, it’s only a short walk from all places cool in the 3rd arrondissement, and with beans sourced from Café Lomi, a simple filtered black iced coffee is smooth enough for even those who compulsively over-sugar their joe. Come with a friend and enjoy a cup in the retro-cool atmosphere.

These are always good to know but to tell the truth, when we arrive in Paris, we go for coffee at 1- the nearest cafe 2- Cafe Flore or over to the Louvre where we sit outside and have coffee and just let it soak in, we are back in Paris ! 🙂
